RailHawks Lose in Vancouver 1-0

Published Jul 28, 2008

The Carolina RailHawks lost to the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 on Saturday night at Swangard Stadium despite outshooting the Whitecaps 15 to 10. The lone goal came in the 12th minute when Eduardo Sebrango took advantage of some confusion in the penalty area and slotted the ball in the back of the net. The RailHawks were forced to play without suspended defender David Stokes and Head coach Scott Schweitzer decided to start Caleb Norkus at left back for the first time this season moving Kupono Low to the center with Chad Dombrowski. The RailHawks continued to attack the whole match but were not able to capitalize on the many scoring chances created. The Whitecaps showed a very physical side earning 20 fouls against the RailHawks’ 7 and garnering five yellow cards.

The RailHawks will have a chance to return the favor as they host the Vancouver Whitecaps on Friday, August 1 at WakeMed Soccer Park at 8:00 p.m. in the second of four nationally televised games. Continuing in the tradition of many professional franchises the RailHawks are encouraging their fans to wear orange jerseys and shirts to paint WakeMed Stadium RailHawks Orange for the whole Fox Soccer Channel viewership to see. Tickets for this and all RailHawks events are available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK, at all Ticketmaster outlets or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
