As a recent “relocate” to the Raleigh area, I am surprised by the busyness of the people here.  Having moved from a smaller town, I am used to a slower pace.  My family has been here less than one year, and I am amazed at how fast our calendar has filled.  There are so many wonderful opportunities, I am finding my family choosing not between what to do and what not to do, but rather choosing between two or more great options – which one is best.  One of the perks I have discovered is the availability of Independent Pharmacies in the North Raleigh area. 

If you are not familiar with Independent Pharmacies, let me tell you more.  Independent Pharmacies are pharmacies owned by an individual or individuals, rather than by large corporations.  The Pharmacist who fills your prescription is usually the same person who owns the store, and more than likely, the same person who fills your prescription the next time.  There is not a huge turn over in staff, so you see familiar faces each time you come in.  Not only will you recognize them, but in a short time, they will recognize you as well.  If you have a question about your medicine or non-prescription item, the Pharmacist is readily available to help you.  Independent Pharmacies accept most insurance plans, so your co-pay will remain the same.  And best of all, your wait time is usually minutes – not hours.  So the next time you are waiting in a long line to have your medicine filled, remember this:  It only takes one phone call to a locally owned, hometown pharmacy to have your prescriptions transferred.
