Downtown Traffic Alerts For March 15

On March 15, traffic will be affected downtown for several St. Patrick’s Day events:

  • The annual Run for the Oaks road race will affect traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Runners will begin at 8:30 a.m. on South Person Street at Moore Square Park. They will proceed north on Person Street to Wake Forest Road, continue north and turn left onto Chestnut, left on Mordecai, right onto Delway, left on Blount, left onto Jones, right onto Person, right onto Edenton , left onto Blount, left onto Morgan, and right on Person back to the finish line.
  • Traffic will be affected from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The procession will move north on Wilmington Street to Davie Street, proceed west to Fayetteville Street, north to Morgan Street, east to Wilmington Street, north to Edenton Street, east to Blount Street, and south to Martin Street.
  • Also, the 200 block of East Martin Street from South Blount Street to Blake Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for festivities associated with the parade.
  • A portion of the 300 block of W. North Street from 10 a.m. until 4 a.m. will be closed adjacent to the Pub Hibernian from Glenwood Avenue to a point just east of 301 W. North Street for a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
  • A portion of the 100 block of N. West Street will be closed for a St. Patrick’s Day event. The road will be closed from 2 p.m. until midnight.
  • The 200 block of East Martin Street will be closed for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. The Fort Bragg Green Beret military parachute team will drop onto a target in that block. The road will be closed from 6 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
  • The 200 block of South Blount Street will be closed between Hargett Street and Martin Street between 1:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. for a St. Patrick’s Day event at Tir Na Nog.
  • The 100 block of S. West Street will be closed from 8 a.m. until 4 a.m. for a St. Patrick’s Day event at Buckhead Saloon.
