The City of Raleigh Arts Commission, in partnership with United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and The National Arts Program Foundation, invites City of Raleigh and Wake County employees and their families to submit artworks for the fifth annual exhibit and awards contest of The National Arts Program at the Avery C. Municipal Building (222 West Hargett Street).  The exhibition will run Dec. 7 through Jan. 10, 2008. A public reception and presentation of awards will be held at the Municipal Building on Friday, Dec. 7, from 5-7 p.m. 

Who May Apply

Participants must be employees of the city or county or family members of employees. Artworks submitted can be paintings, works on paper, photographs, sculpture, or crafts. All submissions, however, must be original works (no copies, kits, etc.). Categories for adult prizes include: Amateur, Intermediate, and Professional. Categories for youth prizes include Youth under 12, and Youth 12-18.  Cash prizes are given in all categories!  Please see attached rules of exhibit for additional details.

This registration form must be submitted no later than Friday, Nov. 16.  Detach, stamp and mail completed form, or fax to (919) 890-3602. City entrants may also use interoffice mail.  Forms may be copied or additional forms may be obtained by contacting Carol Mallette, Arts Commission Office, carol.mallette@ci.raleigh.nc.us, or call 919-890-3610. 

Delivering Artwork

All entries must be delivered to the City of Raleigh Arts Commission, 222 W. Hargett St., First Floor Lobby, on Monday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Retrieving Artwork

Each artist is responsible for retrieving his/her artwork on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Any artwork left will not be the responsibility of the Arts Commission, Wake County, or The National Arts Program.

The National Arts Program is designed to give all artists, at all levels of skill, an opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional manner and to compete for cash prizes. Don’t miss this chance to be recognized for your creativity!
